Getting started

The Basics

Brazilian Zouk is a partner dance built on a lead–follow connection and a smooth, elongated movement of the body. This page is a placeholder outline — fill it in with real lessons and video.

Connection

Everything in Zouk starts from a clear, elastic connection between partners — a shared frame that lets a lead be offered and a follow completed without force.

The basic step

The foundational rhythm is often counted as a slow–quick–quick, moving forward and back. From this base grow the lateral, the viradinha, and the elastic that Zouk is known for.

Movement & body isolation

Head movement, body waves, and cambré (dips) are signature elements — always trained gradually and safely, with the follow always in control of their own head and neck.
